You are bidding on the exact Promo record shown in my photos. It is the “VG+/NM-” pressing of the 45rpm by The Golliwogs as released as a single in November 1964 on the Fantasy label #590. This was the group’s first record on the Fantasy label as well as their first record under the Golliwogs name.

The songs are “Little Girl (Does Your Mamma Know)”, a great side with an almost DooWop sound and ‘feeling”, b/w “Don’t Tell Me No Lies”.

The Golliwogs were an American rock band that eventually evolved into Creedence Clearwater Revival. The band started out, in 1959, as an instrumental trio called The Blue Velvets. The original line-up was John Fogerty (guitar), Stu Cook (piano), and Doug Clifford (drums). In 1960, John's older brother Tom Fogerty began singing with the group.

In the middle of 1964, the band recorded two songs for Fantasy Records, a local label based in San Francisco. Max Weiss, one of Fantasy's co-owners, initially changed the group's name to The Visions, but when their songs (the record I am offering) were released as a single, in November 1964, Weiss renamed them The Golliwogs

Condition: Vinyl is in “VG+/NM-” condition (based on Goldmine). The vinyl is clean and shiny with no feelable or hearable scratches or defects. The labels are clean and intact with a stamped “X” to indicate the plug side. Please see all my photos.

Most importantly, the record plays beautifully with no noise, tics or skips during the music. I will ship it in a plain white sleeve.
