The Graham Bond Organization - The Sound of '65
A rare opportunity to own this key album in rock history featuring: Ginger Baker - Cream/Ginger Baker's Airforce/Blind Faith/Baker Gurvitz Army Jack Bruce - Cream/John Mayall/Blues Incorporated/West, Bruce & Laing Dick Heckstall-Smith - John Mayall/Colosseum
'Originally released in 1965. The Organization was formed in 1963 when Graham Bond, Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and Dick Heckstall-Smith all left Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated. Baker and Bruce went on to form the rhythm section of Cream with Eric Clapton, and Dick Heckstall-Smith went on to play with Colosseum.'
Visual grading: The record LP itself has hairline marks across its playing surface with some surface marks. It has a 1cm scratch on the first side. The cover has creasing, scuffing and some foxing but is in good shape. See the pictures. (Picture 1 is for reference, picture 2 is the actual front sleeve).
Play grading:
Side 1:
To start, there is general underlying surface noise and groovewear; although it is present, it doesn't overtly interfere with the listening experience.
There is one recurring ticking sound at the start which settles down within the first minute.
About 2 minutes in, there is a ticking sound for about 10 seconds.
There is a tick sound on track 2 from about 30 seconds in for about 45 seconds up to the harmonica solo.
From this point, it starts to settle down further.
Tick sound between Spanish Blues and Oh Baby, cannot be heard as soon as the Oh Baby starts.
The general surface noise and groovewear gets quieter as the side progresses.
Side 2:
This side plays approaching VG+
The surface noise is less present and the groove wear is also less evident.
There is an occasional ticking sound here and there.
By the time you get to about half the way through this side, the surface noise is even less evident along with almost no evidence of groove wear.
The general surface noise and groove wear gets quieter as the side progresses.Overall, this album is a dynamic and exciting R&B listen as you would expect from these musicians and the albums flaws diminish as it progresses. The roots of Cream and Colosseum are here.
