Item Description:

Anthem of the Sun is the second album by the rock band the Grateful Dead. Released in 1968, it is the first album to feature second drummer Mickey Hart, who joined the band in September 1967. In 2003, the album was ranked number 287 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[3]

The mix of the album combines multiple studio and live recordings of each song. The result is an experimental amalgam that is neither a studio album nor a live album, but both at the same time (though it is usually classified as a studio album).

Drummer Bill Kreutzmann's description of the production process describes the listening experience of the album as well: "...Jerry [Garcia] and Phil [Lesh] went into the studio with [Dan] Healy and, like mad scientists, they started splicing all the versions together, creating hybrids that contained the studio tracks and various live parts, stitched together from different shows, all in the same song — one rendition would dissolve into another and sometimes they were even stacked on top of each other... It was easily our most experimental record, it was ground breaking in its time, and it remains a psychedelic listening experience to this day."[

When I became a member of the eBay community in April 2004 The first items I sold were Vinyl records and I was blown away that my Beatles records were so popular and I was posting records to Japan, Australia, France and Germany and it was always my intention to auction off almost all of my records but so many things got in the way of me doing this, but now the tracks (pun intended) are clear for me to start listing records again.

I am not a dealer, and all items offered for sale are from my personal collection. I do use my personal knowledge and the guidance available on the internet & eBay to describe my items accurately. It is important to me that buyers are happy with their purchases particularly those items which I have owned for a long time, and am often reluctant to sell.

I grade my records in line with UK Record Collector grading system. As follows:

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc.. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

I have not had an opportunity to play the record, but visual inspection shows both Sides 1 & are in excellent near mint condition due to only being played a couple of times. This will be the case with most of my records as I used to copy them to other “recording formats”

The cover is also in EXCELLENT condition throughout. No tears or splits, having been carefully stored - it has not seen daylight for at least 25 years!

I always pack my records very well using proper record mailers with added stiffeners. Postage in the UK depending on the item value is either 1st Class signed for or Special Next Day Delivery
