As was the case with the three preceding volumes, Dick's Picks Volume 6 has been painstakingly remastered for vinyl from the original tapes by longtime Bay-area engineer Jeffrey Norman. Whether you're a diehard Deadhead or just a casual listener, we think you'll agree this classic recording has absolutely never sounded better. At the time, Dick Latvala was requested to find something in the early '80s – without the request he may never have left the '70s! He was also looking for a Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain, since this pairing had yet to be released in the Dick's Picks series. Both are excellent in this show, and they are followed by an equally strong Estimated Prophet and Eyes of the World. The actual process of source to vinyl was a challenge. The original master was a Dolby B cassette, probably the Edsel of tape formats...there are always speed variation and sound issues to deal with.
