Description Vintage Dead is a live album by the rock group the Grateful Dead. It was recorded at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, California, in late 1966 (thought to be 16 Sept 1966), and released in October 1970.
Vintage Dead was produced without the approval or cooperation of the Grateful Dead. However, it is a legal recording, not a bootleg. An upstart label called "Together Records" assembled live recordings of various Bay Area bands for a planned anthology. When the imprint collapsed, MGM paid the remaining debt and assumed the tapes, releasing two albums of Grateful Dead material on their Sunflower Records subsidiary. Vintage Dead, reached number 127 on the Billboard 200 Produced as a vinyl LP and long out of print, it has not been released as a Compact Disc.
Technically the recording is a bit rough, drug fuelled frantic performance but vibrant and brilliant. The fantastic speed version of I Know You Rider  is available on disc 1 of So Many Roads, but none of the of the other tracks are available anywhere else at present
CONDITION: I have not had an opportunity to play the records, but visual inspection shows all both Sides are in Very Good condition the record having only being played a couple of times. 
The cover is also in Excellent condition throughout. No tears or splits, having been carefully stored - it has not seen daylight for at least 25 years!

As I am not a dealer,  all items offered for sale are from my personal collection. I do use my personal knowledge and the guidance available on the internet & eBay to describe my items accurately. It is important to me that buyers are happy with their purchases particularly those items which I have owned for a long time, and am often reluctant to sell.

I grade my records in line with  UK Record Collector grading system. As follows:

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc.. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

I always pack my records very well using proper record mailers with added stiffeners. Postage in the UK depending on the item value is either 1st Class signed for or Special Next Day Delivery
