East Wind is a jazz label established in Japan in 1974 by Mr. Kiyoshi Ito and Mr. Yasohachi Ito, who were active as famous producers. After its launch, it quickly became a popular label, releasing works by popular Japanese and international jazz musicians such as Masabumi Kikuchi, Masahiko Togashi, Terumasa Hino, Ann Burton, Cedar Walton, and Art Farmer. In addition to the high quality of its performances and artwork, it has also attracted a great deal of attention from audio enthusiasts due to its excellent recordings. This time, Stereo Sound Co., Ltd. will reprint "At the Village Vanguard / The Great Jazz Trio" (recorded in 1977), which is particularly popular among audio enthusiasts among East Wind's works. ) and "I'm Old Fashioned / Sadao Watanabe with the Great Jazz Trio" (recorded in 1976).
With the full cooperation of Universal Music, both have been converted into LP records using an all-analog process using original analog master tapes. The sound quality was supervised by Mr. Shoji Sugawara, the owner of the jazz café "Basie", who had a close relationship with Mr. Yasohachi Ito during his lifetime, and who had been consulted on sound quality since the original release. Mr. Shinya Matsushita, a young engineer who presides over PICCOLO AUDIO WORKS in Yushima, Tokyo, directly faced Mr. Sugawara's strict obsession with sound and carved the sound into the lacquer disc. The duo, who never compromised on the sound, teamed up to create a combination of Scarley cutting laces and Westex cutter heads (same as the famous Rudy Van Gelder) that were thoroughly restored by Mr. Matsushita. By using it, the sound of "It's jazz!" was engraved on the lacquer disc.
