Nimbus Supercut Audiophile LP, from the original master tapes for Riverside RLP 9451
This recording was made in the early sixties, with Keter Betts on bass and Buddy Deppenschmidt on drums. This session is an object lesson in simple but effective recording. No effects or gimmicks were used, just brilliant interpretations of great and familiar melodies. The spontaneous magic of Charlie Byrd as you would enjoy it live.
Nimbus is a small British company with a reputation for consistent quality in record pressing. Nimbus Supercut releases were mastered from the the original master tapes, through an all tube mastering process, using no limiting, to result in a high quality pressing which was as close as possible in sound to the original recording. This album is from a small production run (around 1000) specifically produced for the UK magazine “Practical Hi-Fi” (later re-named as “Hi-Fi Today”) in the early 80’s, and is therefore somewhat rare.
This album is still in the original shrink wrap, although not sealed. The wrap covers approx. 90% of the cover.
