The Hastings Archive / The World as Power - LP - Aleister Crowley - Current 93

Description

For auction is for the vinyl LP record of The Hastings Archive / The World as Power by Aleister Crowley produced by Current 93 in association with the Final Church of the Noddy Apocalypse, circa 1986.

The contents of the record are a collection of spoken recordings made by Aleister Crowley, done on wax cylinders between 1910 and 1914  compiled by David Tibet of Current 93.

The record was released in two editions: the first was limited to 31 hand-numbered copies and was given complimentary to associates of The Church Of The Noddy Apocalypse; the second was limited to 418 hand-numbered copies made available 'for public purchase'. The plates for this LP manufacture were destroyed after release.

Each copy is presented in a hand-printed sleeve and was accompanied with three pieces of ephemera:

(1) A flyer for Current 93 in-print and forthcoming products, featuring a picture of Noddy crucified on a unicursal hexagram. On the reverse side is the list of thirty-one associated members of the Final Church of the Noddy Apocalypse who received the thirty-one privately issued black cover copies. The list of Final Church associates included such luminaries as Boyd Rice, John Balance and Charles Manson.

(2) A flyer announcing the availability of EDDUKVAEDI by the high priest Beinteisson, and that Current 93 would be moving to Reykjavik, Iceland fir two years.

(3) Two copies of the Thelemite Creed, LIBER LXXVII vel OZ by Aleister Crowley.

The only identifying text on the cover is a red sticker labelled 'GOETIA 666'. The center label for the record came with no holes punched through; so in order to play the record the first time, the paper had to be punctured. 

Side A is 45 RPM. 

Side B is 33 RPM.

Other Identifiers:

Hand inscribed with stylus on run-out track side A: "FOR BABALON ABOVE, AND BABALON BELOW /  A PORKY PRIME CUT  / GOETIA-666-A".

Hand inscribed with stylus on run-out track side B: "THIS IS FOR THE SERVANTS OF THE STAR AND THE SNAKE / GOETIA-666-B1".

The vinyl is like new and has never been taken out of the inner sleeve. The turntable spindle holes are still covered by the unbroken labels indicating that the record has never been played.

The jacket is very good plus with just a hint of ring wear starting and some minute surface scratches. The silver stamped unicursal hexagram on the front is bright and intact. The seams and corners are in great shape, except a bump to the top left hand corner and a two inch split in the middle of the top seam where the record edge has broken through. See prictures. 

This copy is number 7 of 418 of the "public purchase" edition and has the “Goetia 666” sticker on the reverse side. If has all of the original ephemera pieces, including two copies if the Liber OZ flyer.

Paper inner sleeve is near fine, just a little aged tanned. I have put the record into a new Original Master Recording anti-static inner sleeve as the vinyl was bristling with static when I took it out of the paper sleeve to examine and photograph it.

All in all, a very nice mint copy of this collectible LP recording.
