Description
I am a born and raised Montrealer. In 1966 and 1967 The Haunted were the hottest band in town. Their hit “1-2-5” played on CKGM 980 and CFOX all the time. As a high school student, I danced to their music and loved the hard edge and mystery of their songs.
About 10 years later, I was lucky enough to find a sealed copy of their first album in a Montreal record store and bought it out of nostalgia for my high school days. This album had a very limited pressing of approximately 1000 copies. It is now considered to be one of Canada's rarest LPs, if not THE rarest. It is virtually impossible to find in near mint condition. This is NOT a bootleg or a repressing, but the original first pressing as documented by the manufacturing numbers scratched by hand into the centre of the record beside the label and visible in the photographs: TW-6701A on Side 1 and TW-6701B on Side 2.
I have played the album perhaps 20 times in the 40 years since I bought it. It has only ever been played on a high-end manual turntable, first a UK Connoisseur unit, then a Rega. I digitized the album years ago and have played it in that format since then.
As you can see from the photos, the cover and the disc are both in near-mint condition. There is a bit of scuffing and corner wear on the outer edge of the left side of the cover, the edge exposed when the record is shelved. The cover has been in a protective plastic sleeve since I bought it, as is the case with most of my vinyl collection. The disc has no visible scratches.
There have been no recorded sales of this album in 2017. Two comparable sales from 2016 were both auctioned for in excess of C$2,000.
Shipping will be at the buyer’s expense and will be expensive given the value of this item and the need for insurance, fast delivery and a signature. I will advise the final buyer as to shipping cost once I know the destination.
