The Headhunters – Survival Of The Fittest 1975 US Arista, Jazz, Funk / Soul (Monarch Press?)
The Headhunters are an American jazz fusion band formed by Herbie Hancock in 1973. The group fused jazz, funk, and rock music. This is their debut album, released in 1975 on Arista Records. It features the track "God Make Me Funky", from which its drum break has been sampled numerous times by prominent rappers.
The custom printed matte card sleeve would certainly grade as EX- It shows signs of handling and storage wear (very minimal corner rubbing and bumping) with a little ring wear. The spine is readable and the entry edge shows minimal signs of use. There is also some minor creasing.
The original generic printed paper inner is grades as NM. Shows little signs of handling.
The vinyl looks unplayed apart from a small scuff at the beginning of Track 1, Side 2 which has no impact on play or the audio. The Arista labels are clean. On play grading there was nothing substantial to spoil the enjoyment of the record, maybe only a rare pop or click. It plays superbly with very strong audio. Label variation with Straight time listing and White text encircling labels (see pictures). The surface is very clean, glossy and shiny with no marks, a superb copy that conservatively grades as EX+.
