Description
For many years I did promotion for music labels, large and small, and have accumulated product not only from labels I represented but labels I competed with as well. Understand this was not a collection as such; it was the residue of what I did for a living. These discs were not stored in air tight lockers of kept in a temperature controlled clean room, they were in boxes in my office and although they may have never been removed from the dust jacket please expect dust and even some light scratching. Others have survived the passage of time in excellent, never played condition. From 1957 we have for a no reserve auction what appears to be a never or lightly played, white label promotional copy of The Heartbeats, Rama Records release “I Want To Know” 2:28 b/w “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” 2:30 catalogue # 231. Vinyl has a high gloss surface, excellent “Not For Sale” white labels and retains a plain white paper sleeve. I know this disc to be from a station that was an MOR station back in the day and although they would not at the time of release consider playing this disc they did enter it into their library and added what was the appropriate coding in blue ink on each label. This disc, like others from the station, has been stored in a heavy green-stock paper sleeve with a vinyl cover. This was The Heartbeats last release on the Rama label and a great addition for the serious collector of early doo wop. On the “A” I do notice a smudge and I have no way of knowing what caused it or if it can be cleaned but I don’t feel it would effect the sound.
