Description
I attended college in the 1970's, briefly, and The Hobbit was a highly recommended read. Once I read it, I could see why.
This imported boxed set of vinyl LPs was read by Nicol Williamson who was active in the acting profession in the 60s and 70s, more or less known for his work in the theater as Malvolio in Shakespeare's the Twelfth Night.
There is something special, for those who are remembering, and those attempting to expose a younger generation to, what it was like to use your mind, (as in the days of radio dramas), to flesh-out what we heard and could not see being performed.
As it is with books, these 4 LPs offer us a pass into the "Theater of the Mind", where we, the listener, create the scenes, actors and ambiance.
Unlike books, a record lets you sit or lay back and close your eyes while being transported to the place and time the author, (in this case John Ronald Ruel Tolkien), and the narrator, (Nicol Williamson) skillfully guide us to.
If you have Grandchildren or children who you believe would benefit from this rare experience; it is recommended you provide it to them. Their experiences will be vastly improved for it.
There is evidence that these LPs have been played numerous times, but no heavy scratching or surface damage seems to have ensued. I did not play them at all, I just visually inspected them.
What you are buying is the boxed set of 4 LPs in good physical, albeit numerously played, condition. Along with the LPs comes the box in good condition, and the 6-7 page inner pamphlet which a few photos are added herein.
