THE HOLLIES - 'EVOLUTION'

1967 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP


This great sounding 1967 1st MONO pressing of their pop/psych classic on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 7022

Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rims.

The 'KT' tax/price code is present in the centre of the side 1 label.


Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover designed by 'The Fool' (Dutch artists: Simon Posthuma and Marijke Koger)

Complete with its original & rare black & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve showing, amongst other, The Beatles' 'Rubber Soul' LP.


Matrix numbers: XEX 635-1 & XEX 636-1

Stamper codes: 1/G & 1/M

Labels: VERY GOOD

Clean & bright both sides but with numerous spindle trails and slight centre hole touch-up.

Visual: VERY GOOD

Both surfaces are clean & bright with just a few light surface marks on each side consistent with frequent, but careful play. Close examination beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals a sparkling rainbow gloss shine and some harmless wispy paper hairlines, but no other significant or major signs of wear.

Play: VERY GOOD

This copy has recieved a number of careful plays but is without any major deterioration to the sound quality. My careful playcheck found some light background during some of the quieter passages and slight playwear toward the innermost tracks but no jumps, repeats or any other major audible distractions elsewhere.

Cover

EXCELLENT

A superb example with the beautiful front panel retaining an unscratched high-gloss laminate with no 'thumbnails' or any significant signs of wear. There are tiny shelfwear rubs to the lower corners but no heavy bumps or bruises to any. Both opening edges are clean & sharp and the rear panel is immaculate with no marks or blemishes. All flipbacks, seams and the spine are totally undamaged.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD +

Clean & flat with minor storagewear creasing but no writing, tears or splits.
