Condition – Cover
VG. There is some corner wear and there is a 1.5 inch scuff at the bottom of the sleeve. This has not actually gone through as a split, but it is weakened. There is some laminate creasing and a small amount of laminate lift along the edge nearest the spine. The rear sleeve is fully laminated and very clean. There is no writing at all.
This is a very early issue, as the credit on the bottom left of the label is to Elektra Records. Later issues almost always credited Polydor, the parent company.
Condition – Record
G++. There are a few marks on either side, with the longer ones being on side 2. However, the vast majority of these marks are very shallow and barely affect play at all. One 2 or 3 tracks there are some clicks, but these are primarily between tracks.
Overall the record plays through very well with some light crackle here and there.
There are no major issues at all and both labels are very clean with no writing at all.
A word on the labels.... The Rare Record Price Guide lists this as the first pressing with the orange label listed as a second pressing. I have been collecting for many years and have never seen any other Elektra issue come with a white sleeve and green & black writing.
My theory is that this band were so "out there" that Elektra decided to press just a couple of hundred or so on a virtually "promo" label and moved to a much bigger pressing on the standard orange label when the first lot sold out. I could be wrong!
Incidentally, the cover photograph was taken in the Polydor basement and Clive Plamer (RIP) has - allegedly - got a few LPs stuck under his shirt!
