The JAKES "It's Been Nice" RARE '66 garage folk rock 8” demo 45 rpm ACETATE HEAR!

This is an original 8-inch acetate (unusual size) pressing of two 45 rpm singles.   The tunes were released on Patriot BRC-1063 in 1966. 

According to Vernon Joynson's "Fuzz Acid and Flowers (Revised),  "the band was based in Baltimore and included Ken Johnson, who would form Cherry Smash at the end of the decade, and Doug Allen, who would join him in that outfit some years later..."

"It's Been Nice" is described as "..a sultry Byrdsian folk-rocker with chord changes and harmonies guaranteed to elicit goose bumps; amazingly, it has excaped the attention of compilers to date. "Where You Gonna Run To" is reverberating teen-pop.

Label:  The acetate disc has no labels.  Only a numeral 1 and 2 written in crayon on the respective sides.  It is as-found, with an original generic “audiodiscs” gold paper sleeve, identifying the company that manufactured the black acetate discs. 

A very cool item!

Condition:

DISC: Acetate disc is in overall very decent condition with no serious wear or issues. There are a couple minor hairline scuffs and a ding or two, but the playing surfaces are overall extremely clean and the disc plays through nicely on both sides as you can hear in the accompanying sound clips.  Fidelity is very nice.
