A piece of movie history . . . Original Vitaphone Overture record for "The Jazz Singer" Vitaphone disc VA-2227-2-2 "Overture Louis Silver" 16-inch one-sided heavy shellac Victor pressing Like all Vitaphone discs, plays at 33-1/3 rpm, from inner groove outward. Plain white label ( this may well be a Test Pressing ) Vitaphone Orchestra, conducted by Louis Silver for Warner Bros. film "The Jazz Singer" This disc was made to be played in a theater before the beginning of the film. It is not part of the film sound-track, it was made to precede the film. Orchestra begins with dramatic music, and ends with "Mother, I Still Have You" - this was the very first song written specifically for a film / movie (sometimes titled "Mother Of Mine I Still Have You") - composed by Louis Silver, who also directed the Vitaphone Orchestra for the film and this Overture Record is in E+ condition with beautiful sound. Media Mail is $10.00 within U.S. Will pack carefully, sandwiched between 16-inch "junk" records for protection, but will not be responsible for any damage. Domestic Insurance at buyer's expense.
