Description

An original 1st press of EL on the UK Track label from 1968. Matrix 1/1/1/1 - very 1st cut. Please note the labels are consistent first press with the inverted matrix on the left. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original white-text gatefold. This is in fact the VERY FIRST design before the label messed around with the layout and tried to resize the lower photos which ended up with the much hyped blue-text and ghosting errors. Also included is one of the original plastic bag warning inner sleeves date coded to Sep-1968 [the month prior to 1st release].
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In very fine condition and have in now way been abused. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side, plus one tiny feelable mark toward the end of side C - but nothing heavy that's going to cause significant problems. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of slight deviations. An absolutely superb player with, in reality, very little to complain. First and foremost it's a nice clean player most of the way through. It in no way has seen heavy use...it's a relatively low-mileage copy and the audio has been, thankfully, largely preserved intact. At worst expect a touch of light static briefly in a couple of spots [e.g. Hot Summer]..this is the exception to the norm. The only deviations I can detect are a couple of light ticks right intro at the start....during that psyche swirling sound in the openings seconds. A couple of clicks in the closing couple of seconds of 'House Burning' & a couple of clicks during 'Moon Turn The Tides'. Nothing invasive sustained or even that distracting. So, in summary I'd argue that this copy is actually very very well preserved and represents a fantastic rendition of this very sought after LP.
Cover (Vg+) In great shape and has clearly been looked after. A few thumbnail creases over toward the opening and a bit of left-over sticker residue in the top right corner. Ditto the rear - very nice looking except for a couple of thumbnail creases. The interior is immaculate - no issues at all. Edge wear is light and the spine is fully intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
