Vinyl 45 rpm 7" single HEY JOE, WHERE YOU GONNA GO? b/w BE WITH YOU by The Leaves, released 1965 on Mira Records (207). This is The Leaves' original recording of HEY JOE, WHERE YOU GONNA GO?. A second recording--with searing, fuzzed-out leads and exaggerated vocals--was released a year later as a separate single, with a shorter title (HEY JOE, Mira Records cat. no. 222). The second version is the popularly known album track. This original recording closely resembled its So Cal garage origins, akin to early versions by Love and The Byrds. The second version ain't bad. This original version is far more urgent.
Please note that this 7" is free of scuffs or scratches. There IS a visible pressing anomaly on the a-side that does not affect play (photo 3). It sounds consistently clear and crisp, without any indication of groove-wear or attendant crackle. It sounds as punchy and urgent as the best punk 45s. Record comes with generic dust sleeve.
