About This Record: At auction here is an original copy of The Litter's debut LP on the Warick label (Warick 671). It looks not quite as good as my VG Rising Storm that I sold recently,m but it plays just as good if not better. I freaked in 1979 when I first heard this LP and after ten years there when I found four (4) copies, have been always seeking the better copy. This is 1967 Midwestern garage psych at its best. A clear top ten desert island disc in my mind, as is my Plastic Cloud LP also up for auction. Hans Pokora gives this record 4 stars! I certainly agree with Hans here, although I might have rated this five stars and unquestionably would have given it my highest personal seal of approval! I have owned 8 copies over the past 25 years; this was my best (vinyl and cover) until a recent find, although it was a tough decision for me which to sell. See my detailed comments below about both the visual and aural condition (see details below). It plays better than my VG Rising Storm LP I recently sold, although unlike the Rising Storm LP it does have one minor jump as noted below. If my house ever catches on fire, I would run back in to save this LP or my slightly better copy. As Litter afficionados who surf E-bay and look at bidders might have noticed, I have bid $1600 for a near mint copy (but lost), and $1000 for a true visual VG+/M- copy (and lost). I'm happy with my other copy. But don't worry--My reserve price is less than I paid for this LP some time ago. CHECK my feedback. The Cover: The Cover is a weaker VG (but still OK, especially for a Distortions LP!). It has very slight ring wear (unlike most copies I have had which have MAJOR ringwear), and some seam splitting. About half the top right seam is split, and the bottom seam is split about two inches on the bottom right seam. Spine is OK but flaking. All four corners show some wear. No writing anywhere or any sticker removal marks. Better than 6 of the other copies I have owned! See my detailed scans at the end of this ad. The Vinyl: VG: The vinyl plays mostly VG+ BUT from a visual perspective it looks VG- because of substantial hairlines that makes it look like a light spider web. (REMEMBER, I do not use EX) With one exception noted below, the vinyl has no skips, jumps or sticks like most of the copies I have owned (which usually have skips on Action Woman or the slow Codine), just a few loud pops here and there and light background noise in places. Well, the exception is that I just played the LP again and there is one very minor jump forward in the first two seconds of I'm So Glad (first song on Side 2) during the instrumental intro on Side 2; otherwise that song plays VG+. But this minor jump or skip forward (which might be repairable) is the worst thing about the LP. Otherwise, the vinyl has No feelable scratches, just lots of hairlines from loving play and apparently stacking the record, it looks like a giant spiderweb with lots of hairlines. Action Woman plays a great VG+ with a couple of soft pops at the beginning before the vocals that are not too distracting. Codine has some pops at beginning for 7 or 8 seconds but otherwise plays close to VG+. Substitute has more pops than the other songs on the LP, and is the weakest track from an aural perspective VG- to VG. Remember, this record is fully guaranteed and returnable for a full refund if for some strange reason you are not satisfied. The Labels. The labels of the record are in nice VG+ condition except that the labels show some spindle marks. No writing or sticker damage anywhere on the labels either. My Grading Policy: I use strict Goldmine grading standards. Accordingly, I do NOT use the grade EX (or EX+, or EX-). While I use VG+ (which seems to be EX to EX+), I do not use the grade VG+(+) or VG+(-). I offer a full refund if you are not satisfied.
