The Magic Christian 1st Press OZ OST LP NM ’70 Ringo Starr Badfinger Beatles
Original 1st Press OZ LP released in 1970 on Commonwealth United Records. Cat: SCUL933747.Every so often Timewarp is lucky enough to come across a special record collection. Over the following weeks I will be listing records from one such collection. Collected mostly during the 1960’s and 70’s this set of records have been well preserved and cared for some dating back to over 50 years old!! Our regular customers will be aware that if we do grade a record at Near Mint expect it to have only been played a handful of times at most and to sound superb. We hope you enjoy the records we will be offering as much as we have in presenting them to you.
This is the original motion picture soundtrack to the British comic film, The Magic Christian, starring Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr and directed by Joseph McGrath. The score by Ken Thorne (who also did Help!) consists mostly of incidental music played under scenes in the movie and included here with dialogue, such as bump-and-grind music played along with a moment in the film in which Laurence Harvey plays the "To be or not to be" soliloquy in Hamlet as a strip routine. Also included, Sellers singing Noel Coward's "Mad About The Boy," the ubiquitous "Something In The Air," by Thunderclap Newman (which seemed to be in just about every counterculture movie made in the early '70s) and three numbers by Beatles proteges Badfinger including their debut hit, "Come And Get It," although the haunting "Carry On To Tomorrow" is also notable.
Tracks: Introduction/ Come and get it (Badfinger)/ Hamlet scene/ Hunting scene/ Carry on to tomorrow (Badfinger)/ Lilli Marlene/ A day in the life/ Magic christian waltz/ Come and get it/ Rock of ages (Badfinger)/ Newsreel march music/ Mad about the boy/ Something in the air.
There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record is stunning, like new and plays in Near MInt condition. Gloss cover has a few light age spots and a small sticker stain on back top right and is in Excellent condition.
