Description
Fresh from a local estate is this super rare old LP by THE MARSADEES on the Justice label (JLP--150 ). A South Carolina record expert stated in an earlier listing that: "The label was out of Winston-Salem
North Carolina and pressed extremely limited copies of southeastern
artists. It is estimated that there were only 100/150 pressings made. THIS RECORD IS
SO RARE IT WASN'T EVEN KNOWN TO EXIST until the last few years!
The Marsadees were high school buddies from Lexington, South
Carolina. They played garage surf-rock and had an excellent
lead guitarist. The photo on the cover looks like they are playing
in their high school gymnasium. "
The album jacket has some splitting at the top and bottom edge as shown. Overall, the jacket is very clean and displayable as you can see. We had the vinyl cleaned at Papa Jazz Record Shoppe here in Columbia, SC and they graded side A as VG with side B graded VG- with a small discolored area and a scratch. Probably the rarest LP on the label, this wasn't even known to exist until recently. It's not bad either, clearly among the better in the Justice catalog, with a crude surf and frat approach similar to the non-garage stuff on the Tempos LP. The only band on the label to cover a Beach Boys tune and indeed there are California dreams all over the album, with several classic surf instros covered. Should appeal to anyone interested in local pre-Brit Invasion sounds, even though it dates from 1967! Cool cover photo of the very young Lexington band. One group original, a sleepy surf instro.
