Description
The McCoys - Hang On Sloopy LP on Bang Records, catalog BLP-212.
Released in 1965, this is the debut album from The McCoys, the group led by Rick Zehringer, who would later become better known as Rick Derringer. The title track "Hang On Sloopy" became one of the defining American garage-rock hits of the 1960s, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remaining one of the most recognizable records of the British Invasion era's American response.
Collectors often seek original Bang pressings because they capture the raw, youthful sound of one of the era's most successful teen bands before Derringer launched his long solo and session career. The album also includes versions of "Fever," "Stormy Monday Blues," and "I Can't Help Falling In Love," showing the group's blend of garage rock, R&B, and blue-eyed soul influences.
Record plays NM-. Original red Bang labels. Comes with the inner sleeve shown.
Please note: Jacket remains very attractive overall with light age wear, corner wear, and some discoloration visible on the rear cover. Side 1 label has a small handwritten prior-owner name ("Fred") as shown in the photos.
