Description
In this auction:
· “HEAD” Original Sound Track LP by The Monkees
· This is Colgems COSO 5008.
· This LP was released in 1968.
· This was The Monkees 6th LP and the last to feature all four Monkees until the mid-1990s.
· “HEAD” was a VERY UNIQUE FILM & LP in many ways:
- The selection of the music and the dialogue was compiled by actor Jack Nicholson who co-wrote the film’s script.
- In 2013, Rolling Stone ranked the LP at number 25 in its list of “The 25 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time”.
- The sound track and LP brought together a variety of unlikely artists such as Annette Funicello, Frank Zappa, Bela Lugosi, Teri Garr, Leon Russell, Ry Cooder, Carole King, Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Earl Palmer and others.
· What makes this LP REALLY SPECIAL is the ORIGINAL FRONT COVER that featured a mirror-like finish with a surface of aluminized PET film meant to reflect the listener’s “head” (face) back at him/her.
· The UNIQUE MIRROR-LIKE COVER is in NEAR MINT CONDITION and STILL in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. The shrink wrap has “breathe holes”. Any scratches or scrapes are on the shrink wrap and not on the cover. There are 2 old and small price stickers on the cover and a large round sticker. There is also a small bit of sticker residue where another small price sticker was removed. (Any scuffs are on the shrink wrap and NOT on the actual cover that has been protected by the shrink wrap for more than 50 years.)
· The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG+ (almost/practically NEAR MINT) CONDITION. (I’ve seen many sellers grade vinyl like this as Near Mint.)
· Also included is the original Colgems paper inner sleeve.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find this MONKEES ORIGINAL SOUND TRACK LP as nice as this one!
