And twenty years later, a new generation is discovering the audio/visual antics of Davy, Micky, Mike and Peter. Assembled here are two dozen essential Monkee tracks, making this the most comprehensive American anthology on the group. All of the A-sides of their single hits are included, as well as most of the charting B-sides (including rare mono versions of "The Girl I Knew Somewhere" and "Goin' Down," available for the first time since their original release), and a selection of album cuts. Every effort has been made to find the best possible master tapes of these 24 original Monkees classics: where minor lapses in sound quality are noticeable, those were simply the only tapes available. Blame it on time, filing systems, the bossa nova, whatever. In any case, this truly is The Best Of The Monkees. 1966-1969.
