Description

I have rarely seen this album (especially in Mono!) in such magnificent condition....Near Mint to Mint!!  Unbelievable...but true.  The Moody Blues were flying high after their hugely successful release 'Days of Future Passed' the year before. In the Summer of 1968, they released another masterpiece...'In Search of The Lost Chord' (Deram DML. 711 [Mono]) and ventured into new "psychedelic" ground. Highly original songwriting and all beautifully recorded and produced, this was a concept album like no other.

The copy I'm offering here is the EARLIEST Mono release. Printed by Garrod & Lofthouse (rather than the later more common Robert Stace copies) the card stock used is a little thinner but the transfer of the images are superior, as the photos I've uploaded clearly show.  Another distinction in regards to the G & L printing are the 2 flipbacks inside the gatefold. Robert Stace copies don't have this. Above all, what distinguishes this pressing from later ones is....THE SOUND....absolutely incredible!  I couldn't believe it when I looked at the surface  to both sides of the record....spotless!  And then I played it and was even more astonished at the near flawless playback. I'm quite certain there isn't a cleaner 1st Mono pressing of this album out there. Don't miss your chance to own a TRUE 1st UK  pressing of this Moody Blues classic.

 

Condition of Gatefold Jacket: Excellent: ...minor creases/ wear to corners and edges, but overall a solid example of a very rare 1st UK issue.

Condition of Original Inner: Excellent....dated 9/68....as you would expect from a 45 year old inner...signs of age discoloration ...but not much more.

Condition of Record: Near Mint to Mint....Truly in miraculous condition...almost unheard of.

Matrix numbers:  Side 1:  ARL 8270 1W   Side 2:   ARL 8271 1W    First pressing matrix indicators as are the "brown" 'Deramic Sound System' labels (as opposed to the later "red" ones)
