Description

An original 1st issue from summer 1969 whilst the album charted. Matrix 2W/2W - very 1st cut. Take a look at the 2nd issue we have for sale. 1st issues are quite a different proposition than the second issues with a number of differences. Firstly, the 2W/2W copies are the earliest cut you'll find and they're pressed on lovely thick sixties vinyl. Note how the DERAM logo does not have a little "R" by the side indicating registration. The vinyl comes in a laminated gatefold sleeve which helps to protect the covers and gives it more rigidity, the peep-hole is also present. These 1st issue covers were printed by Garrod & Lofthouse and have the lyric booklet attached/stapled into the mid-section [not loose]. Also included is the correct blue and white Decca inner sleeve from '69. So, this is 100% genuine and 100% complete. We'll also throw in a [spare] original lyric booklet so you don't have to touch the immaculate one which is stapled into the cover. 

Vinyl (Ex+) Bit of a stunner and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of bag-rash type marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. Remember a lot of Moody audio is super-low-key with intricate quite passages and what are closer to orchestral movements than standard rock music. Intros and inbetweens are perfectly quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. You'll really need this for this title as so much of it is low-key employing acoustic guitar and flute [for instance]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. You won't find a better playing copy and by that I mean you won't find a cleaner copy or one with better sounding actual audio. These early pressings are quality! Interference is pretty much absent. Expect nothing more than a couple of isolated crackles in a couple of spots per side. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) In superb condition and the lamination has really protected this specimen. Also worth noting that the cover seems to have managed to maintain a much richer deeper blue hue. Front and back are close on perfect with nothing more than a couple of minuscule thumbnail creases. The interior looks fantastic and hasn't aged at all. The booklet is complete and still fully attached. No pages missing and it hasn't been heavily thumbed. Edge wear is very limited indeed for this title and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains a very impressive early original copy.
