Description

Many regard this Lp released by The Moody Blues in the Fall/Winter of 1969, as their masterpiece. Listening to it from start to finish, it's hard to disagree. Even before a note is played, as one holds the gatefold cover in both hands, one is almost compelled to look inward and think about the cover painting (created by Phil Travers) which was used for this album.  One could write pages and pages about this aspect alone. What's incredible is that the music found within the grooves matches the beautiful artwork and goes beyond.  The copy I'm offering is from my personal collection and is the elusive Mono version and  probably one of the last to be released in the progressive-rock genre. This was the first title to be released on the band's newly created 'Threshold' label.  This is one the cleanest copies of this Mono Lp I've ever found...truly amazing. The fantastic audio is miraculously devoid of any background noise and distortion; a rarity with this pressing. The  pink and white "Mono" inner-sleeve is present with a date of '2/70' printed on the lower right side;  as is the photo/lyric insert printed on a slightly thicker card stock. This listing is for those of you who have been waiting patiently for a near-perfect example of this rare 1st UK mono release.   I doubt you will ever need to upgrade this copy.

 

Condition of Gatefold Jacket: Excellent...minor wear to edges and corners...a couple of inoffensive creases; spine is near perfect... all in all a superb example.

Condition of Original 'Mono' Inner-Sleeve: Excellent ...colours are still vivid ....one corner has a fold.

Condition of Photo/Lyric Sheet: Near Mint

Condition of Record: Near Mint...perfect labels with just a couple of spindle marks...Incredibly clean record surface....a few faint hairlines and scuffs can be made out under strong light, but have no bearing on playback.
