Description
Here are 3 rare 45s from a great Hong Kong rock/soul band active in the 1960s, all issued on the Diamond label. According to Discogs, The Mystics were the "only pop band from Hong Kong to play Soul Music during the 60s."
One of the picture sleeves appears to possibly have been autographed by the lead singer.
The Mystics were: Michael Remedios (vocals), Tony Tavares (drums), Francis De Costa (guitar), Vasco De Costa (bass guitar), and Clifford Yim (keyboard).
Included in the sale are 3 singles from the band, all with picture sleeves. They are:
**Somebody New/Song of the Wind Both the media and sleeve are VG+ - in amazing shape for their age. There is a small DJ sticker on one side that says "Fox Trot" (that's how early rock records were often categorized at the time). May be removeable. The sleeve is heavy, cardboard-like paper. It's in great shape, glossy and intact. Only one of these records has ever been sold on Discogs, and that copy sold for $100 by itself!
**Mystic Soul- When a Man Loves a Woman/Midnight Hour/Soul Time/Ain't Too Proud to Beg Both media and sleeve are VG+. Media looks like new, glossy and appears to have hardly been played, if at all. Sleeve is thick paper, glossy, with only minor wrinkles and small lines (see photo).
**Sweet Soul Music/Goin' Out of My Head Media is VG+. Sleeve has b/w photo, intact but a bit brittle and has some small splits in seams. The sleeve has the hand-written name "Michael Remedios" on it - possibly his signature??
I'm not a professional record dealer. I have tried to be conservative in my grading (per Goldmine standards). These records are really in very, very good shape, considering they are more than 50 years old!
Please feel free to ask any questions, and I can post more photos if requested. Here is a great piece of music history. Happy bidding!
