The Official Beatles Fan Club Third Christmas Record 1965. Flexi-disc..
This is the 1965 version of the series of fan-club flexi-discs. It features a nice photo of the boys with their classic instruments (Paul’sHofner Violin Bass, George’s Gretsch Tennessean (or maybe Country Gentleman),John’s Rickenbacker 325, and Ringo’s Ludwig drums. The contents of the disc arethe usual cheeky sub-Goonshow banterings, not unlike their hi-jinks of theirfeature films, but they do at least perform a throwaway Christmas-themed versionof Yesterday towards the end of the record.
The sleeve note is by Beatles publicist Tony Barrow, and isquite informative. He points out that they had just completed recording RubberSoul at the time of making the Christmas disc. There’s also an honourablemention for Anne Collingham, who ran the fan club. I'm afraid I haven't got the information sheet which I believe used to accompany these discs.
The record is in good condition, which is to say it doesn’tjump or have scratch sounds, the words and music are clear, and the background noise is not too serious, although as is natural on old flexi-discs, hi-fi it isn’t. The sleeve is ingood condition with no significant staining.
