"WORLD SPINNING SADLY" b/w "CARPET MAN."
rare 1969 and a super-rare obscurity! Original pressing 7"
With former Yardbirds bassist PAUL SAMWELL-SMITH involved, this was bound to be interesting. Certainly there are some touches that remind, like the choral backing which was effective on "Still I'm Sad" and "Turn Into Earth", both brilliant and influential Yardbird tracks. The innovative 'Sam' left the band too early, but then Jimmy Page took up the slack and Chris Wallenty Dreja moved from rhythm to bass. This single 'A' side is top dark 'floaty' ethereal psych, and it is a top notch piece of music. "sadness" exudes atmospherically out of the grooves, and ....this is an amazing flip side too! A contrasting upbeat pop piece that several artists covered, not unlike 'Follow Me' from the same era. Progressive Rock bands were making heavy psych music now, but this remained obscure. It's in lovely playing condition too.A great slice of floaty psych.
