Description
Back in 1980, my business partner Dare and I decided to create a label, as a spin-off from our indie record store...we both had girlfriends who were lead singers in bands, and our recently separated Radio Birdman mates had formed bands, along with other friends who'd done the same...and we loved them all, but no major label was gonna touch them...so Phantom Records the label, was born. Now that's not something I'm specifically crowing about here...more just so you undertsand why I own an item like this...and in fact, KNOW the details of its existence.
Anyway, this record below is something I've held onto since it first came into my hands from the pressing plant back then:

PRESSED IN: Australia .
DATE OF RELEASE: 30 April 1980 .
ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?: ...Yes, it is...but what makes this unique, is the cover. Our initial option was to order covers made from a white-backed laminated card, or a white-backed matt card...we went for the laminated card, but the printers made up ONE only on the matt card to show us what it could look like. It's actually more beautiful in feel and look, and in retrospect we'd have liked to use it...but we never did a re-printing of the cover...and this remained the only one ever made. I held onto it in my own collection for all these years (and somehow kept it mint!) but am fine to part with it now. If you end up owning it, I'd suggest printing this ramble out to keep with it.
I've included a couple of pix taken with a laminated cover next to this so you can see the difference...but don't confuse things, this auction is for this one matt-covered 45 only.
...The record itself?...it was their truly awesome first (and only) single...band was made up of ex-/later members of the Flaming Hands, Radio Birdman, the Angie Pepper Band, the (post-Radio Birdman) Visitors, the New Christs, T.V. Jones, and the Barracudas (UK)...quite some pedigree!
CONDITION:
COVER/VINYL: ( MINT / EX- )...record has some very light marks (only)...I kept another normal-covered copy in my collection as well, but appear to have played this one too...it has a few spindle marks on each label...regardless, it plays beautifully...
LABELS: (Side One: MINT / Side Two: MINT )...
