Description

The Pentangle - Sweet Child

(Transatlantic TRA 178 UK Double LP 1968)

This is a 1968 UK Stereo 1st pressing double LP. It has a heavyweight front laminated gatefold sleeve. This has inner flipbacks at the top & bottom of the inner gatefold. The sleeve is printed by "Dawson Rossiter Limited". Only UK 1st pressings have a sleeve from this UK printers. Both records come complete with their original generic company plain paper inner sleeve. The records are pressed on thick vinyl & have textured white & purple "Transatlantic" labels. Again, only UK 1st pressings come with textured labels. The records have 1st press A1/ B2/ A2-C/ B2-D matrix stampers.

This is a genuine 1968 UK 1st pressing double LP. There are several differences, as noted, between this pressing and all subsequent pressings. These are not that common. An excellent late 1960's UK Folk LP. It features live tracks & studio tracks. I have some other rare & collectable UK original 1960's & 1970's Rock/ Folk etc.. LP's & 7" Singles for sale too. So please see my other listings.

Gatefold Sleeve: There is mild to more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not that noticeable. There is a very tiny circular stain on the rear sleeve. This could easily be cleaned off. There is some light, mild or very mild rippling on the inner gatefold on some areas. The spine is in Excellent condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. Overall, Very Good++ condition

Vinyl 1: The factory glue line of the inner sleeve, or sleeve, has reacted with the vinyl at some point in the past. This has left a couple of "cloudy" dull surface marks at the outer edge of Side 2. They measure 9 cm and 8 cm respectively. It seems to mainly affect the play-in dead wax area. It only slightly goes into the first track on that side. It does not seem to affect playback at all. Otherwise, there area a few light, mild, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The paper inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good+ condition. The labels are in Excellent condition & show light or very mild spindle wear only. The company paper inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & fading. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. Overall, a very decent audio copy.

Vinyl 2: The factory glue line of the inner sleeve, or sleeve, has reacted with the vinyl at some point in the past. This has left three "cloudy" dull surface marks at the outer edge of Side 3. They measure between 9 cm and 8 cm. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are about 5 light, mild or very mild clicks toward the end of the 2nd track on Side 3. Overall, a very decent audio copy
