The Police - 5 x UK Original A&M DEMO 7" Singles. PROMO. Sting (1978-1981) Rare

This is a great collection of 5 UK original Demo, or Promo,  7" Singles. These span the years 1978-1981. Two of the singles come with a Picture Sleeve. The other three singles have their original "A&M" company paper sleeve. This is how each Demo single originally came. Unfortunately, the records are quite well played. However, these are quite rare. I have listed & graded them individually below:

1. Roxanne/ Peanuts (A&M AMS 7348 UK Demo 7" Single 1978)

This is a UK 1st Press Demo, or Promo, 7" Single. It is pressed on thick vinyl & has solid paper "Demo" labels. These have a large "A" printed on the A-side label. The record has 1st press A1/ B1 matrix stampers. It comes with its original "A&M" company black paper sleeve.

Vinyl: There is a 5 cm surface mark on the B-side. This is a bit thicker than a hairline mark. There is another 7 cm surface rub marks, or surface scuff mark, on the B-side too. There are a few areas of more moderate sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, on the B-side too. There is a very small 1 cm hairline surface mark on the A-side. Otherwise, light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. The A-side is in Very Good+ condition. The B-side is in Fair+ condition. Overall, Good condition. The labels are in Near Excellent condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear only. The company paper sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There is a small stain too. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Very Good overall & Very Good+ in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle noticeable in the quieter places. There are a few areas of more moderate crackle on the B-side. This doesn't last too long. This single does not jump or stick. It is a serviceable audio copy.


2.  Can't Stand Losing You/ Dead End Job (A&M AMS 7381 UK Demo 7" Single 1978)

This is a UK 1st Press Demo, or Promo, 7" Single. It comes with a top-opening Picture Sleeve. This is printed on matte card. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has solid paper "Demo" labels. These have a large "A" printed on the A-side label. The record has 1st press A1/ B1 matrix stampers.

Sleeve: There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor rubbing wear on the three edges, & top opening edges, on some areas. There is some small & light creasing in the corner tip areas. There are a few light, mild or very mild handling creases. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. There are no seam splits. Overall, Very Good condition

Vinyl: There are two 14 cm surface rub mark streaks, or surface scuff marks, across the A-side. There are about 6 light, mild or very mild surface marks, or surface rub marks, which are primarily on the B-side. These measure from 1.5 cm to 4 cm in length. There is light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are a few areas of more moderate sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, too. these can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Good condition. The labels are in Near Excellent condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear only.

I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Very Good overall & Very Good+ in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle noticeable in the quieter places. This single does not jump or stick. It is a serviceable audio copy.


3. De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da/ A Sermon (A&M AMS 7578 UK Demo 7" Single 1980)

This is a UK 1st Press Demo, or Promo, 7" Single. It comes with a top-opening Picture Sleeve. This is printed on matte card. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has solid paper "Demo" labels. These have a large "A" printed on the A-side label. The record has 1st press A1/ B3 matrix stampers.

Sleeve: There is some moderate to more considerable rubbing wear on the bottom edge. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor rubbing wear on the two side edges, & top opening edges, on some areas. There is some small & light creasing in the corner tip areas. There are a few light, mild or very mild handling creases. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. There are no seam splits. Overall, Very Good condition

Vinyl: There is a small 1 cm surface mark at the start of the B-side. This is a bit thicker than a hairline mark. There is a 3 cm and 4 cm light surface hairline mark. There are mild, very mild, more moderate or moderate surface sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, which can be seen under a strong light. The picture sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild dull surface marks on some areas. These can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Good++ condition. The labels are in Very Good++ condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear. There is some very mild spindle rubbing wear on the A-side too. This has caused a minor rubbing tear at the spindle hole (see photo).

I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Good+ to Very Good overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the background to a varying degree. This only really notices n the quieter places. This single does not jump or stick. It is a serviceable audio copy.


4. Invisible Sun/ Shamelle (A&M AMS 8164 UK Demo 7" Single 1981)

This is a UK 1st Press Demo, or Promo, 7" Single. It is pressed on thick vinyl & has solid red paper A&M "Demo" labels. These have a large "A" printed on the A-side label. The record has 1st press A6/ B2 matrix stampers. It comes with its original "A&M" company black & red paper sleeve.

Vinyl: There are about 8 light, mild or very mild surface hairline marks, or hairline surface rub marks, which measure from 0.5 cm to 4 cm in length. They are mainly quite small. There is a thumb-tip sized area of more moderate surface sleeve rub mark, or surface scuff mark, on the A-side. Otherwise, light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. The paper sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Good++ condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear only. The company paper sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Good+ to Very Good overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle noticeable in the quieter places. There are a few areas of more moderate crackle on the B-side. This doesn't last too long. This single does not jump or stick. It is a serviceable audio copy.


5. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic/ Flexible Strategies (A&M AMS 8174 UK Demo 7" Single 1981)

This is a UK 1st Press Demo, or Promo, 7" Single. It is pressed on thick vinyl & has solid red paper A&M "Demo" labels. These have a large "A" printed on the A-side label. The record has 1st press A1/ B1 matrix stampers. It comes with its original "A&M" company black & red paper sleeve.

Vinyl: There is a noticeable 5 cm surface rub mark, or surface scuff mark, on the A-side. There are about 4 light, mild or very mild surface hairline marks, or hairline surface rub marks, which measure from 1 cm to 5 cm in length. There are a couple of small areas of more moderate sleeve rub marks, or surface rub marks, which can be seen too. Otherwise, light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good minus condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear only. The company paper sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Very Good overall & Very Good+ in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle noticeable in the quieter places. There are a few mild clicks at the start of the B-side. This single does not jump or stick. It is a serviceable audio copy.


I shall place the singles into a separate plain paper sleeve. This will protect the original sleeve, or picture sleeve, from any damage during the shipping process.
