The Pop Group 1980 FOR HOW MUCH LONGER… Vinyl LP + 4 posters
Rare opportunity to acquire such a clean copy of The Pop Group’s second LP, with all of its attendant posters. Released on Rough Trade Records, the disc was bought new in Liverpool’s Probe Records, by Julian Cope, who immediately kept the item safe in a thick clean polythene bag. The outer cover therefore remains superb, free of the depredations of time, no edge wear, no scuffs of any kind – a lovely thing still. The four enormous posters all remain in place. Each one measures 35” (89cms) by 25” (63.5 cms) and all have stood the test of time, except for one bizarre section which was cut out (please study photos). The large size of the posters has, unfortunately ensured that each sticks out at the end of the 12” x 12” cover, thereby scuffing edges here and there. However, even this edge wear is fairly minimal and unobtrusive (again, please study photos), and the four items remain very crisp and clean. Both sides of the disc have just been played through – here is the excellent report: All tracks are clean save for the following – ‘Forces of Oppression’ exhibits some minor crackles in the first 5 seconds, but the whole side is clean thereafter, save for one in between tracks 2 and 3. On side two, ‘There Are No Spectators’ exhibits one light pop about 30 seconds into the song, and another louder pop about 2 minutes in. The rest of the side is clean.
