Here you have the first ever rock opera, which is said to have inspired Pete Townsend to compose "Tommy". The Pretty Things are one of the greatest bands ever and as far as I'm concerned, compete with The Beatles only. The Stones should be honoured if they could be roadies for these guys! According to Vernon Joynson, author of "The Tapestry of Delights", a guide to British beat, R&B, psychedelic and progressive music from 1963-1976, The Pretties also inspired other bands like Jethro Tull. "Private Sorrow" sounds similar to compositions on their "Aqualung" album. Obviously the music on this album is of the highest calibre, made and played by one of the most creative and mysterious groups which have their origins in the '60s. The laminated gatefold, "flip-in" album cover is in EX condition with a couple of minor spots and minimal laminate separation - barely noticeable. At the bottom of the rear of the cover there is a tear of appr.1" length, which is not a tear-out, hence EX. The disc is NEAR MINT !!! If it weren't for some spindle marks, it looks like it has hardly been played. There is a sticker on the Columbia blue/black label on side 1, which says:"Factory Sample Not For Sale". Finding another original copy in this condition will be a difficult task to fulfill. Good luck bidding. P.S. Check out my other rare items on ebay !
