The Replacements Don't Tell A Soul ORIG U.S.A. Sire Issue + Inner Westerberg EX+

Hard-to-find Original American SIRE pressing of The Replacement’s ‘Don’t Tell A Soul’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: SIRE/REPRISE Records Company 9 25831-1).  This includes the original, rather flimsy and thin inner sleeve and a relatively heavy duty American cardboard sleeve.  I’m fairly confident that this is the first pressing of this.  The matrixes read ‘1-25831-A-SR1’ and ‘1-25831-B-SR1’ and they also display the message ‘Mastered PORTLAND’.  This comes from my personal collection and I’d guess it has only been played once or twice and I’ve certainly never played it in the time that I’ve had it.  It was purchased second hand.  Grading under an intense light the playing surfaces display a great sheen.  Both sides clearly haven’t been handled in years and display a limited amount of encrusted dirt which could easily be removed.  Otherwise there is only a very, very limited number of hairline markings (a couple each side).  The vinyl is graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition.  As noted above the sleeve is one of those great heavy duty American issues which really ages well.  The only creasing evident is along the spine.  Otherwise each of the corners displays a little fraying and the bottom left-hand corner has received the lightest of knocks.  The sleeve does display a minimal amount of wear in that there has been isolated loss of print.  There is evidence of ring-wear at the top on both sides of the sleeve and along the very top edge of the sleeve there are odd patches where the top layer of print has been lost completely (exposing the white underbelly).  The sleeve is also an easy EXCELLENT+ grading.  I’ve actually removed the vinyl from the original inner sleeve and placed it in a poly-lined inner and this is because the inner sleeve is so fragile.  The paper used in it’s construction is almost tracing paper thin and accordingly, the vinyl has broken through by about an inch at the bottom which is somewhat inevitable (although it hasn’t broken through at the sides which is a great plus).  It is also printed in the kind of black print that shows-up every single greasy fingerprint and there are surprisingly few fingerprints here indicating how little handling this has had over the years.  There is a very slight ripple effect to the inner and a little encrusted dirt which suggests that this might have been stored in a damp environment at some point (this could also explain the minimal amount of encrusted dirt on the playing surfaces).  Otherwise it is somewhat miraculous that it displays no creasing and is graded as being in EXCELLENT condition.

Not an easy item to locate and this is a superior copy!  Please check my other auctions for a large run of Folk, Pop, RnB, Rock and Soul collectables in similarly immaculate condition.  Please save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt.  The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.

Proof of postage is always obtained and retained.
