FACTS:
SANTA DOG is the first Residents recording to be heard by the outside world. Prior to 1972, The Residents (still numbering five at the time) had recorded 4 albums.
Phony credits were listed on the record labels. The actual fictitous groups listed -- Ivory and the Braineaters, Delta Nudes, The College Walkers, and Arf and Omega featuring the Singing Lawn Chairs.
100 of the 500 copies produced were damaged and this set here is one of them. There is no picture sleeve.
Record one has a crack from the centre to the edge. Amazingly it still plays but you do get a click.
Record two has a warp in it but does not affect playback on my turntable.
The labels are clean and are reflective when held up against the light.

In answer to a good question about the warped disc I have attached photos to help articulate what I mean by warped. One picture shows a ruler lined up with the disc and the other shows the same record being played on my turntable.
Although I never noticed this initially, "Lightning" does have a faint woosh sound. I have to admit that the woosh sound never caught my attention before but when asked about it I noticed it.
The sound quality of this double record set is much more interesting in dynamics and timbre than any digital version I have.
