Description
The one that started it all.
Issued in a limited edition of 500 copies, many of which had the original gatefold sleeves stuck together, having been folded and packaged before the varnish dried. Thus the prevalence of copies without jackets, like this one.
Purchased from Tom Timony in a Ralph Catalog auction in 1987, Item #132 (see attached image of original catalog listing).
Described there as "Very Good" meaning "surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound." I would say this rating only applies to the "Aircraft Damage" side, which has an audible scratch near the end. The other 3 sides are in at least VG+ condition. But most Residents fans don't buy something like this to play, realizing its significance in the Residents catalog.
A rare and iconic release, difficult to find in any condition.
