The Third Reich 'n Roll is a 1976 album by the U.S. avant-garde rock group The Residents, it is a parody and satire of pop music and commercials from the 1960s
It consists of 2 suites, "Swastikas On Parade" and "Hitler Was A Vegetarian", both are semi-phonetic interpretations of top 40 rock and roll from the 60s. "Our roots", say The Residents.
On each side of the record was a single composition, approximately 17½ minutes long, using recordings of classic rock and roll songs that were spliced, overdubbed and edited with new vocals, instrumentation and tape noises. The original songs were finally removed leaving entirely new and bizarre performances.
We believe this to be a 1977 pressing of the album. It has the 'grey carrot' on the front and the reverse has the "Why Do The Residents Hate The Beatles?" content of the original insert (?) printed in a central panel against a red background and is printed with the publishing (1975 THE CRYPTIC CORPORATION) and copyright (1977 THE CRYPTIC CORPORATION) details vertically to the right of the inner panel.
It contains the "Weirdo We Have Known" insert, which is a mock postcard from Ralph Records to the buyer.
