Up for auction — one of the most explosive early R&B singles ever cut.
This is the original 1954 Spark 103 pressing of "Riot In Cell Block #9," the record that launched Leiber & Stoller as a production force and gave Richard Berry his first major spotlight two years before he sat down and wrote "Louie Louie." Here's the part nobody mentions: the prison-riot narrative, the tommy guns, the dynamite, it all came from Jerry Leiber's childhood obsession with radio police dramas like Gang Busters. He didn't write from experience. He wrote from memory of a ten-year-old in Baltimore, glued to a speaker, listening to sirens and gunfire open every episode. The song invented a genre of storytelling records almost by accident.
Condition:
Vinyl grades NM clean, glossy, plays beautifully. Labels are bright and intact with no writing, no stains, no ring wear. This is a collector-grade copy, not a dug-out-of-a-basement special. Stored properly, handled carefully.

NM — Near Mint. Played maybe once, maybe never. No visible flaws.
VG+ — Very Good Plus. Minor signs of use. Might have a faint hairline or two, but plays clean.
VG — Very Good. Visible wear, light surface marks, some background noise possible, but nothing that overwhelms the music.
VG- — Very Good Minus. Noticeable wear, scuffs, and surface noise. Still plays through without skipping.
G+ / G — Good Plus / Good. Significant wear, marks, and noise. A player copy for rare or desirable pressings only.
Below G — You won't see it here unless the record is genuinely rare and worth saving.
