Description

An original 1st mono press of BB on the UK Decca label. Matrix 4A/2A. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono G&L cover. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve date coded to Oct-68 [108] - just two months before 1st release. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. PLEASE NOTE - this example has seen a lot of use and will only suit a buyer prepared to compromise on condition in order to bag one of these sought after mono copies...
Vinyl (Vg-) Has seen significant use and exhibits a significant number of marks both sides. One or two are feelable. None seem to be super-heavy or something that would likely cause significant problem. But be in no doubt.. if you are going to consider purchasing you will need to accept it is a LONG way from a clean looking Lp. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly VERYGOOD- level of playback. Lets put this intro perspective.. Firstly, if this wasn't a mono BB I probably wouldn't bother to list it because there is clearly interference audible most of the way through. But if someone is very keen to get hold of one of these copies as a 'filler', or is just constrained by finances, this still might be of interest. And the reason is...whilst not a great player..it does play through and is listenable and enjoyable. And I did detect one slight skip during 'Parachute' ...BUT at no point could it be described as being remotely near clean. Expect crackle and pop to a greater or lesser degree most of the way through. It's not really at a level which is majorly invasive. But be under no illusion it will be audible in most parts....Have a good think about whether YOU can make the compromise on the audio side to bag one of these copies at this super-low price.
Cover (Vg-) Not too bad on the face of it, but don't get taken by surprise. There is a reasonable amount of foxing/ageing mixed in on the front and back surfaces. Still, overall an acceptable looker. The interior is ok - no major problems. Edge wear is mostly light and the only problem area is the spine. There's a two inch, significant wear-through patch. It doesn't wear right through to the interior image, but all the same it is quite noticeable. Overall the cover still retains very good rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Very little ageing and no splits.
