Description
An original 1st press of Beggars Banquet on the UK Decca label from 1968. Matrix 1K/1K [very 1st press]. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original 1968 'Mono' cover. I don't know when it was switched, but either way this is a genuine cover from 1968 - albeit the alternate format. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve dated to Summer 1968 [0768..July '68] - couple of months prior to 1st issue.
Vinyl (Ex-) In great shape despite having seen a moderate level of use. Under close inspection there are a few marks either side - nothing deep or likely to cause significant issue. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. To be honest this is actually a very decent playing 1st press, ok I have seen them better preserved, but it plays really very good indeed. Really nothing to moan about at all...Interference is both light and infrequent. All we detected was a touch of light static in a couple of tracks. And certainly nothing remotely invasive. Quite frankly - a bargain at this price! Please note - the side 2 label is initialled.
Cover (Vg) Has been looked after down the years, but showing its age in one or two spots. Relatively clean and white front cover - which is pleasing. The only noticeable thing are those creases up the spine - this is where BB often takes a bit of a beating. The rear is in similar condition to the front with just maybe a tad more handling wear. the interior looks absolutely spot on - no issues at all. The spine is suffering a bit - not total wipe out, but do expect some of the text to have worn away. It still retains decent rigidity too.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits.
