Description

An original 1st issue of BIG HITS on the UK Decca label. Matrix 2A/3A - very 1st cut! Please note the Decca deep groove which is indicative of 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono gatefold cover - not a peephole version like the later copies. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve which is date coded to "2-68" February 1968..just a couple of months after 1st release. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection we can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Do bear in mind that so so many of these greatest hits LPs have been played to death over the years. Finding a little abused copy is not all that easy. But when you do boy do they sound good - all in MONO. The test track is 'Lady Jane' ...and it plays clean as a whistle! Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is very limited in nature. You might pick up a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots. But by and large this is a clean player that delivers a super rendition.
Cover (Vg+) Looks to be in nice condition and has been looked after down the years. Nice clean front with vivid colours - no signs of fading. The rear is equally good - just flat, clean, shiny, and without creasing. The interior looks great too - without signs of heavy use. All pages are still stapled in fine and intact. The spine is decent with only light wear - please note it is a bit angled now, i.e. it's not perfectly square. The text on the spine seems to legible Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Light ageing in places. No splits though.
