The Rolling Stones Exile On Main Street (St. !) Rare 1st with postcards inners great condition. UK Rolling Stones Records.

The Stones had really found their 1970s sound by now, really rollicking top notch stuff! And in this condition too! Postcards fully attatched, getting rarer I only have 2 copies of this complete (including this one).
The only downers of this Double LP the tradeoff for this beautiful vinyl package is that the previous owner has etched his name into the deadwax on both records, side one of both disks, in no way interferring with either the playing surface, the matrices/stampers or the labels, for me if you're going to tag your records much better than writing on the labels and as innocuous as a matrix number... He has also tagged the inner sleeve of the second disk (please see photos below), and also featured heavily in the photos below, the worst fault, the box-like cover containing the records and opening up "Beatles For Sale"-style (inwards), has come away from it's self, no damage has been caused in it's self by this, however, it has then had an attempted mend on it using thin strips of masking tape, which luckily haven't ripped away the printing, and haven't held the seams together either, but are still there, and I'm afraid to remove them for damage... That's up to you, other than that trully an amazing original copy of this, with square edged inners too! Not the later rouded edged ones.

Generally light play, please read below for FULL AUDIO RUNDOWN! Minor surface marks.

Sleeve Condition: VG-.
Absolutely lovely apart from the un-stuck top and bottom seam of the inner box part, and subsequent mend. Tiniest corner wear etc. really really minor!
 
Inner Sleeve Condition: EX-
Original inners with 1st run square edges (later ones had rounded edges), still very nice and square, only real negative is the name on the second one (pictured in photos)

Insert Condition: Ex
Really absolutey beautiful, crisp corners, clean folds etc. etc.

Labels Condition: EX-
A handful (5ish or less) of light spindle marks on each side are the only imperfections you're getting. The most minor fingerprint possibly cleanable on the C side.
 
Record Condition: Visually EX- Audibly EX-
A Few light surface marks/hairlines grace sides B and C mainly, (hadn't cleaned the disks when taking photos so admittedly they don't look not great in photos- you'll ave to trust me on how they sound whe cleaned up! Or not I guess, it's your choice!)  but checked through with high EQ boosted up max and through large diaphragm headhones andthese were my observations in no particular order.
Side D: Absolutely great.
Side B: visually last 2 tracks have a couple of surface marks, but completely inaudible to my ear, tiny vinyl crackle before the first track, that was it.
Side A: Tiny bit of inyl noise/staic-type crackle (feint) in silences pre/post tracks, as tracks fade away to nearly nothing.
Side C:2 very light surface ticks, followed by 2 even feinter ones at beginning of "I just want to see his face", though the second 2 I couldn't be sure they weren't amp sounds on the recording (really quiet...)
I try grade using direct sunlight which shows up more than anything (hence where poss I take my photos in direct sunlight too), however living in the Pennine Hills, contrary to popular rumour it isn't sunny here EVERY day! So when this isn't always possible, as a backup I also use a 100 Watt lightbulb, though when poss I try to use both. See below for my grading guide...



























My Record Grading System:

Mint: I'm really loathe to use this term, if you ever catch me using it, it must be sealed, but also no holes in seal, and no knocks/bangs/other shelf-wear to seal. Doubt you'll ever catch me using it, makes me wince when I hear people dropping that casually into conversations about a record they just picked up on a carboot/found in a loft etc!

Near Mint: Probably still sealed, or possibly played once or twice, but I'm unable to see ANY proof it's been played ie. no spindle marks/surface abbrasions OF AN KIND even in the strongest light, in short, I have a strong suspicion this, whilst possibly not fully sealed has never been out of it's sleeve!

EX+: Must have been reverantly played about as many times as you can count on your hands! Absolutey nothing audible at all, and you'd have to be looking hard in strong light to find fault with any none audible elements of this record package. If I get hold of a record that sounds, and looks like it could have just been carried home from the shop this is about as high as I go unless in exceptional circumstances. In most instances I've found records like this I'd consider them the final upgrade, I'd even consider some sealed records EX+.

EX: Straight Excellent has to mean just that, the kind of copy you wonder how somebody kept it in that condition whilst still having a social life, especially rare in 50s/60s albums, certainly not a grade to be taken lightly or thrown about willy-nilly. Nothing should be audible to the listener during songs, and even in the silences I'd only allow the most minute groove noise.The kind of record that you'd have to look a long way to upgrade!

EX-: A Bloody lovely record, I'd allow the tiniest ticks to be audible on this, so long as they are only a handful throughout the entire record, and they are WELL back in the mix. This is a record/sleeve/insert etc. that has clearly been owned, but looked after to a degree that you ask questions about the previous owner's social life! Perfect for DJ-ing

VG+: The difference between VG+ and EX- for me is probably that the previous owner of an EX- possibly didn't have to worry about their collection being ruined too much, as they could count on their fingers the number of people that might have visited them annually, a VG+ is a more realistic grade, clearly played, but by a music lover, who took good care of their records. May have been present at social gatherings, but probably quickly tidied away when more rowdy guests turned up! Still usually  good for alot DJ-ing needs.

VG: This is a good example of a record that has lived it's life without a glass bubble surrounding it, but it's owner has been quite careful, perhaps the odd feintly feelable mark if you go in search of it that would make an audible click/pop in a number of places on the records surface. Certainly won't be in any museum, but plays well from start to finnish, and whilst may not stand up to a DJs condition, alongside many collections, you'd be very satisfied.

VG-: As VG, but to a slightly heavier degree, might look a bit worse than a VG, else have the odd repeated click that bugs you in the fade-out of that epic side-ending song. Certainly not perfection, but you could do a damn-sight worse! OK for most collections, though there will be better ones that will probably come up (unless it's very rare!)

G+:   This is starting to wane, shows more signifficant signs of wear/play/misuse. This could be through general carelesness, one bad night, or using a worn stylus, either way, certainly listenable/passable, but if you saw a better copy going at a decent price, you might think about buying it, and seeing what it's worth to sell this one.

G: Plays through but that's about it, signifficant noise that wasn't there when it was bought. Can still hear the song, but would only really be a filler. I doubt I'll sell anything this bad unless I really think someone will appreciate it in their collection. I'll take these down to the local charity shop and let them find their own homes on the whole!

I'll avoid anything less than this unless it's of signifficant interest, and then I'll clearly title is such. I really don't want bad feedback, and it isn't worth it for me, so I'll avoid this.

I feel my grading system is stricter than many I see used, but the sellers I respect on Ebay and elsewhere seem to be of the same mind as me, I'd much prefer to be known as someone who undergrades and you can get a good record from, than someone you have to wonder, "actually is their VG+ quite what I'd expect from that?". Hope I can win you over!

IT'S COVER'S IN GOOD NICK, OR IT'S A PRIVATE PRESSING/PROMO OF LIMITED AVAILABILITY) I'LL CLEARLY MARK THIS IN THE TITLE "JUMPS" OR "WARPED" ETC.)


I have been collecting and dealing in Vinyl for over 15years, though I realise my selling hasn't been very busy for a while. A few months ago one of those increasingly rare collections of great condition 60s rarities, came into my possession, and they are far too good condition and too rare pressings for me to justify keeping in my collection (I'm trying to downsize and save up to go travelling). Hopefully on the run up to Christmas all of this collection IN ITS ENTIRETY will be listed up here (I have promised myself and my girlfriend not to invest in them myself, though that is exactly what they are... investment quality! Along with some rare MOD singles, such as the Who and the Birds, all original copies!!!!


The previous owner of these records is still a massive music enthusiast, but is moving onto CDs and flac files. He lived in London during the 1960s and often went to many gigs (he tells me of many gigs he went to see (The Birds, Who etc. etc.)). Almost all of his 60s albums are some of the very earliest stamper numbers 1Gs on EMI presses and 1Bs on Decca INCLUDING the mega-rare WHO MY GENERATION LP with both 1B/1B Matrices AND 1/B 1/B STAMPER NUMBERS!!!! NEVER SEEN ONE OF THESE COME UP ON EBAY BEFORE!!!! Hope this is whetting your appetite! Please watch this space in the next couple of weeks. Check out my other items!

IN RESPONSE TO THE QUESTIONS REGARDING THE POSTCARD INSERTS (PLEASE READ QUESTIONS AT BOTTOM), HERE ARE EXTRA PHOTOS, PLEASE DON't HESITATE TO ASK FURTHER QUESTIONS!

All postcards (12) are fully attached, and can hardly have been out of the box, no wear and tear on them, their perforated seams show no sign of wear, and, so rare, even the backs of the cards (white with a little black printing) show NO stains/signs of age at all!

This photo features the ONLY imperfection I can see with these postcards, if you look closely on this close-up of the 12th (final) postcard, at the bottom left-hand corner (foreground), you might notice 4 very small, and very pale yellowing spots, the area they are over is about 1 cm squared. They are incredibly light, so were hard to get to show up! Hope this helps!
