Description

You can't take it with you. Well, not all of it, anyway. I am moving aboard a cruising sailboat, so I'm downsizing, simplifying, whatever you want to call it. I've got the boat, and I've set a schedule to sail from Maui to Alaska the first good weather window this coming summer. So, (almost) everything must go.
Hardest to part with, for sure, are my two Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs boxed sets. This auction is for The Rolling Stones box set. I've also listed my MFSL Beatles Collection box set. Please note that this box set DOES NOT INCLUDE the GeoDisc.
If you are browsing this listing, I presume you already know about the 100% virgin vinyl, the JVC Japan half-speed mastering from the original Apple Records studio master tapes, etc. If you are browsing this listing, you may also be familiar with the kind of stereo geek who NEVER loaned out his vinyl albums, ALWAYS cleaned the record and the stylus before each play, ALWAYS stored records upright in lint-free, static-free sleeves, and ONLY handled the records by their edges, and ONLY played them to make listening tapes (cassette and reel-to-reel). Yes, that was me.
[Just for the record, so to speak, I wasn't always a stereo geek, but I got tired of pops and clicks, and I got tired of replacing albums I wore out, so I learned to take meticulous care of my albums, and especially the audiophile pressings (MFSL, Nautilus Recordings, Sheffield Labs, etc.). These were treated with a thin-film lubricant, and the turntable's tracking weight and anti-skating periodically calibrated. I have transcribed my library to iPod for cruising purposes, and my obsessive-compulsive tendencies are expressed in things nautical instead of things musical.]
I will estimate that this set was only played five or six times. The records themselves are in excellent, almost-new condition. The sleeves are fair to good condition. The spines of the individual record jackets were scuffed when I bought the set. The book is in fine to very fine condition. The protective white paper outer cover has a 1/2" tear, but the red cover underneath is undamaged. The outer box is very fine.
