Description
The Rolling Stones No. 2 LP UK 1st Mono Press Ex+/Vg+ with Blind Man Text An original 1st press of No.2 on the UK Decca label. Matrix 1A/2A. Stampers 1-HB/1-UU. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue James Upton cover with the 'Blind Man' text. The very 1st copies were issued with Oldham's words on the rear and mention of a 'Blind Man knock him on the head ' which authorities deemed offensive. Many of these early copies were pasted over with alternative words and shortly after the new censored text was printed on later copies. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (GV+/GV+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - but nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity on a good system. You're going to need a clean copy to do maximum justice to these early Stones tracks. Interference is very minor and infrequent. All I could detect were a few errant crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. And possibly one click in the gap between the tracks toward the end of side 1. A lovely player and it's sure good hearing these early cuts this well preserved. to me it was a classic sound from a great record
Cover (good +) In great shape and with that 'Blind Man' text showing on the rear all the more sought after. A nice clean front without the usual laminate lift or heavy creasing - a few thumbnail creases over toward the opening. The rear has not totally escaped the ageing process the name janet is written on it, but it looks a good deal better than many other original examples. The Bling Man text up in the top right is all very nice and clear. Edge wear is relatively light and the spine is intact barring a couple of minor stress creases. Overall the cover still retains very good rigidity. A difficult cover to find in truly top condition, but this example acquits itself admirably. Inner (VG+) Lightly aged, but no splits.
