Description
For sale is a copy of The Rolling Stones ninth studio album, Sticky Fingers.
This is an original STEREO UK 1st Pressing produced in 1971 which features the extremely rare Warhol Sleeve.
Sticky Fingers was the first album by The Rolling Stones to reach number 1 in both the UK and US album charts, selling over 3 million copies.
Consequently, there are many variations of this record.
This copy is an extremely rare first pressing that was only sold for the first few weeks of sale in the UK.
Many vinyl records are mis-sold on eBay. There are several details which identify this copy as a true 1st pressing. They are:
· Non-gatefold sleeve which opens at both the top and the bottom edge of the front section
· Small square hole working zipper with no text or logo but with two indented parallel lines.
· Band name and album title stamped in red ink on the front cover.
· “T.M.L Rolling Stones Records” etched into the runout groove.
· ‘Andy Warhol’ credit visible behind the zipper.
· No “A Promotone N.V. Record” text printed on the labels.
· Matrix numbers A//3 (side 1) and B//3 (side 2).
The important point to note is the absence of the “A Promotone N.V. Record” text on either label. The Promotone N.V. company was set-up four months after the release of this record and is therefore not credited on the earliest records. Of these only the first few thousand have the original A3/B3 matrix numbers which are widely recognised to have produced records with the best quality sound reproduction

I use the Goldmine standard as a reference for grading.
Vinyl: Excellent
Visually the record looks fantastic.
Both sides of the vinyl surface retain the original gloss sheen.
There are just a handful of light scuffs which are a common result of removing the record from the original paper inner sleeve.
The labels are bright and clean with minimal spindle wear.
The audio on both sides is accurately graded near mint; exactly how you want to listen to this record.
There is great channel separation, clear vocals and punchy basslines.
There is no popping, clicking or hissing and no noticeable dust crackle.
Sleeve: Excellent
The sleeve is in fantastic condition.
The front retains the original bright colours, the zipper still functions and the buckle, although slightly creased, is not ripped.
The rear is very clean with no notable comments to be made.
The corners are sharp, and the spine and edges are distinct.
There is a small area of discolouration on the spine which keeps the sleeve from being NM.
Inner Sleeve: Excellent
The original ‘patents pending’ paper inner sleeve is in great condition.
There is no visible discolouration and no tears, rips or creasing at all.
The original picture insert is in fantastic NM condition with no staining or creasing.
Also included in the sale is an audiophile quality inner sleeve which provides the best possible protection for the record.
You will struggle to find a copy in better condition than this. This is a unique opportunity to add an extremely rare and increasingly sought after record to your collection.
The album is housed within a premium quality polythene outer sleeve. The vinyl is separate to the sleeve.
The album will be sent within a padded vinyl record mailer.
