Description
An original stereo 2nd issue of TSMR on the UK Decca label. Matrix 6K/7K. Stampers 1-KG/1-IA. Is most likely to have been pressed in autumn 1968 just after the deep-groove disappears on Decca records. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue designed stereo lenticular cover. Also included is the original red bespoke inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow - this copy really is very low-mileage...it has only seen light use. Under close inspection only a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. So many of these original TSMR copies fail to impress. TSMR is an incredibly fussy record from an audio perspective. It is also a far better record then many folk give it credit for..even the STONES themselves! But any interference on these copies just gets in the way and quickly becomes irritating. I am pleased to report that this original '68 copy is preserved to a very high level. Interference is borderline non-existent. Even in those jingle-jangly acoustic moments - it is a CLEAN PLAYER. All I could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments...e.g. in the SNORING!! But other than this copy delivers an absolutely top-level rendition. One that keeps you begging to go back to it..again and again!
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Again, the owner of this record must have been one fastidious individual. These original lenticular 1st issue sleeves do not usually surface looking this crisp and clean. First things first....that lenticular on the front. They are often dulled, cracked, or even worse...warped. None of that here - this is as nice an example as you're likely to find. Perfectly flat and still glued into position without slippage or coming away. Both front and rear are very very nice and flat and without marking or creasing. Being extremely picky I'd mention...there are a couple of tiny laminate bubbles and a couple of tiny laminate scuffs at the bottom edge of the front. But by and large you're going to struggle to even equal this level of preservation. The interior follows suit in a similar fashion - practically faultless. Edge wear is very light for this title and the spine is nigh on perfect.
