Description

This is an original pressing of "The Rubaiyat of Dorothy Ashby," issued by Cadet Records (LPS-841, stereo) in 1970. This is one seriously groovy LP, lush, inventive and funky! The vinyl grades VG+ with inaudible marks to side 1 - sounds fantastic. The cover is VG due to a cutout corner, a bit of edge wear and hint of ring wear. The stampers are 1A on both sides. I haven't heard the reissue but it's hard to believe it sounds any better than this. 
Thom Jurek at AllMusic writes that "this is a head record. Time and space are suspended and new dimensions open up for anyone willing to take this killer little set on and let it spill its magic into the mind canal through the ears. Depending on how much of a jazz purist you are will give you a side to debate the place of this set in Ashby's catalogue. For those who remain open, this may be her greatest moment on record …"
