Description
Extremely scarce original LP release from The Something New, Are You Looking, issued in 1970 by Century (40499). LP visually is a strong VG+ and plays even better than that. Cover also VG+, very nice. Here’s Ken Scott’s praise from his Archivist:
“The bland generic sunset photo on the cover of this custom LP doesn’t look too promising. Even a glimpse of the song titles is likely to generate a few hrumphs: ‘He’s Everything To Me’, ‘He Touched Me’, ‘Just A Closer Walk With Thee’. Just what I need — another Ralph Carmichael project. But noooo, it ain’t like that at all folks. This is classy electric basement folk/folk-rock, with guitars casually bobbing along in a Grateful Dead kind of swing, sorta like that Hallelujah Joy Band album only better, with each song getting an irresistible laid-back unpretentious guitar solo. Never loud, but has some cool subtle psychy guitar effects here and there. Simple home-made vibe, but with decent sound quality. Is that a kid singing lead on ‘He Touched Me’? Other covers include ‘Come To The Waters’ and ‘1 Wish We’d All Been Ready’. Also ?ve original compositions, including the opening ‘Something New Theme’, complete with Wilson McKinley bongo sound. Some beautiful female vocals adding to the charm. From Solvay, New York.”
